52 Moon & Sun Set
With a card for each week, this art deck walks you through the seasons of the year. Each image has a corresponding poem in the accompanying poetry book that offers a space for contemplation and reflection. Inspired by the elements of nature, motherhood, beauty, imagination, and the birth/death/rebirth cycle, every image was painted with pigment hand made from natural elements. Whether this deck is used for a beautiful visual display of images, journaling, daily inspiration, or a thoughtful gift, it blends abstract with concrete and art with words for a deeper connection to self, earth, and in turn others.
What's Included:
52 art cards
Poetry book with 52 accompanying poems
Two-part box (to hold the art deck and poetry book)
Hand made walnut card holder for display
More About Mineral Paint Making
The images in this art deck were created using paint made from natural ingredients - charcoal from our fireplace, rocks from the creek, hikes, our backyard - each hand selected by me and my loved ones as we navigate through our days. Each color holds a memory.
To make the paint, I take the ingredients through a process of hammering, grinding with a mortar and pestle, sifting, separating out the heavier pieces using water, straining through a coffee filter, and finally drying out the material under the sun. When it is time to paint, the pigment is mixed with walnut oil or an acrylic medium and the hue comes to life.
The paints I used to make the paintings are as important as the image at hand. The earth speaks through them in ways I could not have planned, nor can I take credit for.
