About

Becky Jane Krotts is an artist whose work is deeply inspired by the magic of imagination, the natural world, spirituality, and becoming a mother. She specializes in pigments homemade from the earth - rocks, dirt, and charcoal. Each piece she makes reveals the depth of the hues, and also holds deep meaning and stories from where the pigment originated from - perhaps collected from the hands of her child,  a stream after sunset, or the ashes from a late night campfire where stories were told and dreams where shared.

She loves using her hands to make things, old methods, purposefully limiting her supplies, and especially enjoys experimenting with intertwining opposites - abstract with realism, soft with hard, rigidly with fluidness, grief with joy, in the images she creates.

Becky lives with her husband Dustin, three children, Owen, Lily, and Tessa, one dog, and two cats in the outskirts of Cincinnati, often dreaming of living in the middle of a forest in a faraway land.
